Textured maple

This wood sculpture is made from a piece of maple burl that was cut down in a garden from Stowmarke. I have sculpted this hollow so show all the outside of the natural texture of the outside of the burl and i haven’t added any texture to this, this is how it looks without the bark and I think the burl started to grow when the owner nailed barbwire to the tree but i was unable to remove the Barbara so i had to sculpt this with the barbwire in it. Now this piece turned on a traditional wood, turning lathe and was made with traditional tools and a pice like this is dun by hand and took 50 hours to do, now the size of this sculpture it 23 inches tool and 19 inches round and is heavy, now if you are unsure how things like this are made on a wood lathe I have video on TikTok if you want to have a look @jasonlockwoodturning
