Natural edge elm burl decorative wooden vase

This vase is made from a lovely piece of elm burl that is very rare in this country because of Dutch elms disease so finding some elm extra special. Now to the people that are not sure what a burl is. So if a tree gets damaged in a storm or has something screwed or nailed to the tree will start growing a burl around the damage to protect the tree so if you walk past a tree and see a big ball or lump on it that is a burl. This vase is made from one piece but is more of a decorative design but if you did want to put flowers in it you can place a glass jar into it. This vase was turned on a traditional wood lathe with traditional woodturning tool and I tried to give it a pleasant design that is pretty to look at and still show raw natural beauty of the tree. If you have meet or seen a lost of my work I like to leave as much of the natural each of the tree and include it the sculpture.
