With all my resin art forms, I try to make them look like a landscape painting, but in a three-dimensional form. I like to use a small piece of wood that would otherwise be destined for the fire. I stabilise the wood and dye it at the same time. This gives the piece more depth and gives it a really nice texture. I’m free to make it anyway I choose as I’m not tied down to a particular shape, size or colour, like would normally be the case with a log. In addition to my resin pieces, I still love to make the more traditional wood turned art forms, but incorporating the natural angles and shapes from the tree.
Oak burl and resin decorative art form or wall hing
£550.00
- This mountain art form is on of my signature pieces, this piece is made from a piece of stabilised oak burl that most people would have use as fire wood but after looking at it sitting in the work shop I keep thinking it looks like a mountain, so what I have tried to do with the resin And the wood is try to paint a picture of a mountain with crashing wave and the tide coming in, then after pouring the resin and wood in to a round mould I have turned it on a traditional wood lathe and traditional tools so will turning the piece I have cut 4 holes in to the piece to try and make it lick 3 coves in a mountain side, the piece is 16 round and it is 5 inches deep
